Online Poker Hearing in August

Account Services, a payment processor that handles online poker transactions, will be attending a hear scheduled for August 21st regarding $14 million in poker funds seized from them by the US Department of Justice. The hearing was initially scheduled for August 14th but has been pushed back a week. The Poker Players Alliance had filed a motion with the United States District Court for the Southern District of California, where the hearing is to be held, to allow them to appear and present an amicus brief, and the motion was granted by the court.

Probability and mfuse in Internet Games Deal

Two well established UK casino companies in the mobile gambling sector, technology provider Mfuse and AIM listed Probability plc have teamed up in a mutually beneficial agreement that will see a bigger and wider section of games available for the growing numbers of gamblers on the go.

Probability, which has developed more than 30 mobile games, is the first company to make use of Mfuse’s mobile gambling platform, which links directly to betting firms including Betsson, Bet365, Gala Coral Group, Ladbrokes, Sky Bet, Sporting Index, Sportingbet, Paddy Power and William Hill, reported The Guardian newspaper this week.

Mobile gambling is booming despite the recession, the newspaper reports, quoting independent experts Juniper Research which estimates that the global mobile gambling industry will be taking $16.6 billion worth of bets – ranging from casino betting and lotteries to sports betting – by 2011, up from $1.35 billion in 2006.

Aussies Performing Well at WSOP Main Event

>The 2009 World Series of Poker has now reached its finale with the first two flights of the Main Event heating up the Rio Hotel and Casino over the last few days. The opening flight saw 1,116 players take to the felt with the decision made the just play four levels to avoid the potential situation of getting too close to the money before the players merged into one field.   Several Australians took to the felt with cricketing legend Shane Warne have a tremendous day on the felt. He ended the day with 87,625 to be ranked in the top 35 chip counts, but the honour of top Australian went to ANZPT Sydney champion Paren “Puzz” Arzoomanian who topped the Aussies in 23rd place with an impressive 98,825 in chips. Event 56 $5K NLHE 6-H – Hawrilenko Claims Last WSOP Prelim Victory

The last preliminary tournament of the 2009 World Series of Poker was an opportunity. While many used the days before the $10K main event to rest and relax, others were anxious for the chance to cash in, make a final table of, and potentially win the no-limit hold’em short-handed event. This was their chance.

There were 928 players who took their $5K shot at it, and the combination of those numbers made for a $4,361,600 prize pool for the last 90 players standing to split according to their finishes. And the first place prize? A whopping $1,003,218.
