Online poker room Titan Poker is supporting Omaha Pot-Limit players. The game, often called PLO for Pot Limit Omaha, is one of the more popular versions of poker, but still pales compared to no limit Texas Hold’em, but Titan Poker is launching something called the Omaholics Promotion which will award more than $140,000 to the PLO players who do well. The promotion is a leader board style series, which means that players will collect points as they pay and top point earners will be rewarded with cash.

The last two weeks of telecasts took us through the four days that made up Day One of the Main Event. The focus, not surprisingly, was on well-known professionals, such as Daniel Negreanu, Phil Hellmuth, and Mike Matusow. The only one of the November Nine that we got to see was, again to no one’s surprise, Phil Ivey, who was as much under the spotlight as a player could be while playing at a table in the hinterlands of the tournament room. Tonight, ESPN moved on to Day Two, with tonight’s two hours being devoted to Day 2A. Let’s follow [ Read More ]

PartyGaming, parent company of Party Poker, has acquired the World Poker Tour as part of a purchase of its parent company, World Poker Tour Enterprises. This is somewhat surprising, as it seemed for a while that a deal with Gamynia, owner of such poker rooms as Titan Poker, would go through instead for $9 million and a percentage of future WPT and Professional Poker Tour revenues. Unfortunately for Gamynia, PartyGaming offered a more attractive $12.3 million with a 5% revenue share on monies made on the purchased assets. It is still possible for this new deal from PartyGaming to get [ Read More ]
The Borgata Poker Open is going to hold their buy in at a reduced cost. Perhaps as an effort to appeal to those facing crisis during these tough economic times the Borgata Poker Open has dropped the $10k buy in to $3,500. Reducing the buy ins has happened before in recent years, but typically they are dropped down to $5k. The aim of lowering the buy in this much is to bring in more casual players, giving them a chance at a championship title, but also filling the tourney with dead money.

Part one of this series on floating can be found here. Last time around I began looking at the float play, and outlined some of the factors that should be considered when making this play. In this article, I will complete this analysis before looking at some effective counter strategies. We can start this by looking at the type of hand you need to float. Since you are not looking to take your hand to showdown, your actual holding appears irrelevant. But this logic doesn’t take account of the fact that some of the time your opponent won’t pass to [ Read More ]
It seemed as if this case was done and over, with the defendant not guilty of gambling and the game of skill argument accepted by the court. But the state of Colorado had other things in mind. Though they cannot retry Kevin Raley for “professional gambling,” the original charge that stemmed from his bar poker game, the state appealed the ruling that poker on the basis that the skill game argument had no place in the case. With that, the Kevin Raley and the Poker Players Alliance are taking it all the way to the Supreme Court. The case of [ Read More ]
