A recent ruling on poker in the US has reportedly disappointed the Poker Players Alliance. The PPA is lead by former U.S. Senator Alfonse D’Amato, Chairman of the PPA. D’Amato expressed disappointment in the Washington State Supreme Court’s decision that upheld a state law that makes it a Class C Felony to play poker and gamble online. Switzerland Poker Laws
Poker law in Switzerland remain the same. Recent attempts to change Switzerland law to allow poker tournaments outside of casinos have failed. While Councilors wanted to allow poker tournaments outside casinos the Federal Council did not agree. Since the plan was rejected by the Federal Council only in casinos will Swiss poker tourneys take place. Gaming Analyst Steve Schwartz said that the laws in Switzerland are “for the most part in line” with a lot of the other countries in Europe when it comes to the game of poker.

Poker School in New York
A new poker school has opened in New York. The School of Cards is the first live poker school room in the country. The New York poker school was started by a group of professional poker players. The school will offer group lessons and private lessons. The private lessons will be offered both at the school and in the student’s home. The lessons at the school will be for beginner, intermediate and advanced skill students. The school was founded by Blake Eastman, an adjunct professor of psychology at the City University of New York.
With a guaranteed combined prize pool of $50,000,000 poker players are excited for the WCOOP to begin. The PokerStars 2010 World Championship Of Online Poker is held every year.
