There was big money on the line all over the web making for another massive Sunday online.

FTOPS XVII’s final day made things interesting over on Full Tilt with three events and a total of $4.75 million guaranteed.

The Michael Craig hosted $240+$16 Knockout Six-Max saw 5,055 entrants with DrunkSpirit grabbing the title and $193,121.22 first prize. BgsaPnaples lost heads-up, but still walked away with $118k.

The final Rush Poker event on the schedule also went off, with 1,589 entrants, 3,810 rebuys and 964 add-ons in the $150+$13 Rush Rebuy.

In the end, Dalbaiyob booked the win, hauling in $202,206.75 and an FTOPS Jersey while Davidp18 had to settle for second and $129,805.20.

Finally, the $600+$40 FTOPS XVII main event drew 4,805 leaving Full Tilt on the hook for a bit of an overlay to make up the rest of a $3 million guarantee.

TyboVegas outlasted the entire field to grab the amazing $513k first prize.

UB is set to become the center of the online poker universe one week from Wednesday with the start of the fifth edition of its UB Online Championship series.

Running Aug. 18-29, the UBOC5 line-up consists of 20 guaranteed online poker events including the massive $1000+$50 buy-in $1 million Guaranteed No-Limit Hold’em Championship scheduled to end the series Aug. 29.

When Rep. Barney Frank (D-MA) first discussed his online gaming bill with Card Player in this legislative session, he said that the goal was to pass the legislation as a stand-alone bill with the back-up plan to pass it as an attachment to another bill.

It seems like the back-up plan might be the new focus.

In an interview last week with Card Player, the Poker Players Alliance Executive Director John Pappas said that passing the bill as an attachment “makes a lot more sense,” and outlined a possible timeframe as to when that could happen, eyeing the November-to-January timeframe, after the elections and before the new Congress starts.

Jason Senti might be coming to the 2010 WSOP Main Event final table as the short stack but it would be a mistake to underestimate him.

In November, the 25-year-old from Saint Louis Park, Mineasotta, will enter the final table with 7.7 million chips and try to parlay his 15 big blinds into the $8.9 million first place prize.

“I’m absolutely exhausted but I’m so excited I don’t even know if I could sleep,” Senti said right after making the final table.

Known as PBJaxx online, Senti is actually one of the most dangerous players at the final table.

ESPN began its coverage of the 2010 World Series of Poker with the $50,000 buy-in Poker Player’s Championship, an 8-game tournament for the Chip Reese Memorial Trophy that replaced the HORSE tourney of previous years.  To accommodate the network, it was agreed that the final table would revert to a no limit holdem format.  Unfortunately, ESPN decided ONLY to shoot the final table, and as a result, the viewers were deprived of being able to see anything other than no limit holdem, despite the fact that only 1/8 of the tournament was played that way.  So the versatility of the final table participants, and how they moved through the incredibly tough field, was never on display.

There were many reasons that the Sunday majors could have seen another dip in registration numbers, but the decreases were coming almost weekly for some tournaments and sending nearly every one of the major tournaments into a position of providing an overlay just to make the guarantees. But with the summer in full swing, Las Vegas full of the WSOP, and several current live options for players, there were many reasons that the dip may be temporary.

All in all, there were very few tournaments that eclipsed their guarantees, but two of the big Sunday events continued to live up to their financial promises and award significant money to the players. Read the full post …
